"Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs."

The Report of the U.N. Brundtland Commission, Our Common Future, 1987
"You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete."

Buckminster Fuller, philosopher, futurist and global thinker (1895 - 1983)
"If there are to be problems, may they come during my life-time so that I can resolve them and give my children the chance of a good life."

Kenyan proverb

We at SDEWES Conference take great pride in the scientific excellence of our invited lecturers and authors of papers included in Special and other Conferences sessions, but there is another program that truly makes this Conference complete, and this is our SDEWES Social programme.

From 30 June – 4 July, you will have a unique opportunity to enjoy the company of top experts in the field of sustainable development from all around the world and, through our social program, exchange ideas in a more informal way, while enjoying the beautiful sites, sounds and tastes of Novi Sad.

Social programme schedule:

June 30 (Saturday) — 18:00–20:00 h Welcome reception

Join us for welcome drinks where we will formally start the Conference. The reception will be held at 18:00 h at the Hotel Park Novi Sad, the venue of the Conference.

July 2 (Monday) — tour and conference dinner (starts at 14:30 h after conference lunch break)

We have a very special day planned for our conference participants on Monday, July 2. After the conference sessions and lunch, organized bus transportation will take us 10 km away to Sremski Karlovci, the "Baroque City" on the slopes of mount Fruska Gora and the right bank of the Danube and one of the most important spiritual and cultural centres of Serbia. We will experience the well-known wine cellars and exquisite and delicious worldwide famous wines with a 17-century-long tradition.

Conference dinner will be held at the Petrovaradin Fortress where we will enjoy a delicious SDEWES buffet dinner. The monumentality of the Fortress at the rocks and the Danube at the base contributed that many call Petrovaradin fortress "the Gibraltar of the Danube" thus making it a perfect location to enjoy the local food and music and socialize with other participants while admiring the view from the restaurant terrace.

Social programme (welcome reception, excursion and dinner) is free for all registered participants with an additional fee for their accompanying persons (75 EUR), so submit your final papers, complete your registration and come to Novi Sad!
